Abstract

In MANET, Clustering is the most significant research area now days. Clustering offers several advantages like it improves stability of network, enhances routing in network, efficient resource allocation among mobile nodes in network and hierarchical routing structure. This survey paper analyzes number of clustering approaches which are widely used for partitioning mobile nodes into different virtual groups. Each clustering algorithm considers different parameters for selection of Cluster Head in Cluster. Cluster Head election is invoked on demand and it is aimed to decrease the computation and communication cost in MANET. Each approach has its own pros and cons.
